Local legend Smoove takes a break from his critic-killing soul duet with vocalist Turrell to deliver this excellent track featuring the alphabetical acrobatics of Jehst and Micall Parknsun. With an excellent video from Nick Light, and keys from Mike Porter, this is a must buy.

As we've got DEKAY at Speakeasy this Friday, We thought we'd post this recent battle between local lad Deffinition and the lady herself, Dekay. This is a hilarious battle. Tickets for Friday from Skiddle.com if you wanna see Suus bring it to Dekay on home turf...

After a shambolic soundman ruins Chester's performance, he takes it to the parking lot to finish the show for all the fans. This is why Chester P is a legend in Hiphop. Trust me, it's as real as it gets...

[TRACK] Nity Gritz - Misfit

To Scotland now for this track I was linked recently. Nity has a great flow and decent lyrics. I just wish the recording could be better, but still, this deserves inclusion for the skill of the rapper. Worth a listen, and I will be listening to more from this guy as a result of hearing this track. Good stuff.

[TRACK] L&S - Runaway

Leddie and Smoggy cover Joe Budden's "Runaway". Great bars as usual from these two. Boro's finest.

[VIDEO] Rick Fury - Hustlin

Always one to drop quality, Rick Fury shows why is undoubtedly one of the best rappers from the region. Mint.

[VIDEO] Skrufz ft Sophie Quin - Millionaires

Local legends The Skrufz come with a new track featuring the lovely vocals of Sophie Quin. Catchy and poignant, this is well worth a listen.

[VIDEO] PJ & Duncan - Let's Get Ready to Rhumble (Live)

A bit of a tongue in cheek this post, however, north-east rappers would do well to bear in mind that these two went on to a platinum selling album and are officially the biggest selling hiphop artists from the North-East. The LP "Psyche" was, undoubtedly, a commercial rap record. Obviously aimed at a younger audience, and riding the success of TV Show "Byker Grove", they actually managed to make Geordie Rapping mainstream and went on to be two of the most successful entertainers ever from the region. I guarantee a lot of you will remember this track with great fondness. I know I do. Don't hate. Big up Ant & Dec!!

We love this. A tense instrumental carries you into a great concept track from Jister. Some lovely imagery and some crackin bars, while sounding crisp and well recorded and mixed. Recommended.

No sooner had we pressed "publish" on our previous post, than we were sent a link to this recent diss video from Duble. Griefing Eddie Vegas this time, the video is EXACTLY what you expected. MC Hammer. Yes. I don't even...

[VIDEO] Duble G - The Quadfather of Rap

Duble G comes with his first single "The Quadfather of Rap". A few too many gun bars for our liking, we preferred when he was dissing people, but, just watch it.

The RC-50 train steams forward and death-defying speed and ploughs through their 46th(!!!!) video with a verse from veteran UCALLMESIR. Get subscribed to the RC-50 YouTube channel if you don't want to miss anything, because we can't post em fast enough!!

[TRACK] Big Cal - In For The Kill

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to Don't Flop Newcastle. The team were overwhelmed with all the enthusiasm and support that the North-East offered, and the atmosphere was CRAZY in the venue. For the most part, people had mad positive feedback and, save for the few arseholes who couldn't handle their drink heckling from the back (you know who you are you wasteman MCs), the night ran pretty smoothly with barely any trouble. This is an achievement in itself for a hip hop event in Newcastle, so well done to you the crowd!

The battles were excellent, with Suus and Deffinition dominating in front of their home crowd, despite the opposition having some great bars also. Footage from the event will be uploaded to the Don't Flop youtube on the 18th March for you all to check if you missed it.

However, that's not all for Speakeasy. Oh no. We're back on the first Friday of EVERY month at the Hyena, bringing you the finest battle MCs from around the country. [VIDEO] Seek The Northerner & Morgz on The Bottomless Crates Show

Seek & Morgz braved the Baltic conditions at the time and traveled up from Burnley to Newcastle to perform the set, which was well appreciated; salute. There are a couple of jumps in the video due the audio coming from the Mixlr feed (internet lagging) but it doesn't take anything away from how good it was. Enjoy.

[VIDEO] Top Boy Round Here - Top Boy 4 Life

Dap, Silvar and new addition Lexie come with this explicit club track, riding the P Diddy anthem "Bad Boy For Life". Set against a sunny backdrop, and carrying rhymes about girls, sex and parties, it's safe to say this group doesn't give a fuck what you think. And why should they? They seem to be having too much fun...

[TRACK] Bizz - Reckless

Over here at Speakeasy HQ, we can't help but be impressed by Bizz's workrate. We've been bumping his mixtape quite a lot, and his most recent video "OG" with Topman was a quality entry in the history of grime in the north-east. This track does not fail to deliver, with sharp, well thought out bars over a track reminiscent of the famous "Tubular Bells". We can't wait for next big video - "BOOM".

[FREE TRACKS] Barzin - One Kind Favour

’One Kind Favour’ is the new album from multi-instrumentalist producer Barzin, featuring ‘favours’ in the form of guest verses from rappers around the North East region of England including Supanice, Baron Von Alias, Suus, Deej, Smooth Jezza, Kayaz, J-Man, Rick Fury, Deffinition, UCallMeSir, Rex Regis, Conscript and MistaBreeze.

Wanting to move away from the more traditional boom-bap sound that has become associated with the North East hip-hop scene, ‘One Kind Favour,’ sees Barzin pitting the region’s finest emcees against instrumentals that sit outside of the boundaries of what would be traditionally considered “hip-hop.”

Taking inspiration from his own diverse musical taste, Barzin uses live instrumentation throughout the project which covers a wide range of genres and hopes to demonstrate the diversity of the talent that exists in his local area.

[VIDEO] Dean-O ft Big Cal - Mirrors

Deon-O and Big Cal drop introspective bars over this Lil Wayne beat and come with a montage video to match. Check it!

Well, these two just raised the bar on double time in the north-east. Great video, great beat, and ferocious bars from both MCs. Absolute genuine reload business.

[VIDEO] RC-50 #39 - Handsy

This lad's first video and well, it's great. His flow is tight and confident with some excellent lines scattered throughout. Impressed.
